JAYNE
Jayne is a new custom residence on a site constricted by floodplain status and proximity to nearby stream setbacks. An expansive semi-enclosed patio and garage occupy the basement level to maximize use of space within the flood elevation. Above, the primary level cantilevers over the basement to maintain the footprint of the existing house while increasing usable living area without further impacting the stream buffer. Set slightly above the site’s high point, the primary level sits comfortably above the base flood elevation and opens onto a relatively flat front yard. Viewed from the street, the three-level house appears only as two, better relating to its surrounding context of predominantly one-story houses.
