RICE NORTHSIDE ANNEX
RICE Northside Annex is a contemporary addition to an existing business incubator and community center promoting minority entrepreneurship: The Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE). The proposed design stands both figuratively and physically on the shoulders of what the Center’s founder Herman J. Russell built, aiming to elevate the building to new heights and expand upon the foundation he laid. The architecture is decidedly contemporary in juxtaposition to the existing building to delineate a clear distinction between old and new. This approach reflects the strive for growth, progress, and innovation of the Russell Center’s mission, while also acknowledging its rich legacy.
